I tried the Google Alert. I searched Farah Fawcett cause it was the first thing I thought of. I was receiving more than 10 alerts a day so I cancelled that. But it was a cool way to find info.
I also tried twitter. Our library is so small-there was nothing about our town even. But I will try again!

If your community is small and you don't happen to have an active "Tweeter" in residence it can take awhile. One of our participants had the same experience as you when she first searched Twitter, then a couple weeks later she ran across a tweet that mentioned her town.
